Death Note: Anime

Hey guys! How’s it going? It’s Rahul here and this is my first review! We are starting off with a very famous Japanese Animation (a.k.a Anime) show: Death Note.

About:

This psychological thriller originated from the Japanese Comic Book (a.k.a Manga), Death Note, written by Tsugumi Ohba. Illustrations done by Takeshi Obata.

No of episodes: 37

Main characters of this show include:

  • Light Yagami
  • L Lawliet
  • Ryuk
  • Misa Amane
  • Melo
  • Near

Story:

The story revolves around a 17-18 year old male named Light Yagami. This boy excels in everything. Everything is going his way. Only problem is…. He’s bored out of his mind! At the same time a Death God (a.k.a Shinigami) in the Death God Realm is also bored out of his mind. So he decides to have some fun. He purposely drops his “Death Note” to the human world where it just so happens to be found by Light Yagami. As he is perplexed he realizes that this book has powers. Once the name of a person is written into this book and the image of his/her face is in your head, within 40 seconds he will die of a heat attack unless another cause is specified (more rules found in every episode). Light Yagami intends to use this book to eliminate evil from the world. But killing a person is a crime. So, L Lawliet, the worlds most famous detective is on the case to find out who is behind these killings. The story goes on with L on the chase… And more….

Review:

The story truly lives up to its genre. If you are a lover of mystery you will be a lover of Death Note. The amount of planning that goes into every single detail by both, Light Yagami and L Lawliet is fantastic. It may be a bit confusing in the middle. But it does get you thinking “why?”, “how?”, “when?”, “what?” and trust me, in this case, curiosity does kill the cat! I would say its a one time watch. But a worth watch!

Rating:

I would give this anime a 4/5. It is worth the while!
