Tokyo Ghoul (Season 1): Anime

Hey guys, how’s it going? Rahul here coming in with a brand new blog. Hope everyone has has an amazing week. Mine has been so busy with studies ’cause of the exams coming up! Back to the re-reviews. So, let’s begin.

This dark, fantasy anime was written by Sui Ishida and was aired in July, 2014.

No. of episodes: 12

  • Kaneki Ken
  • Touka Kirishima
  • Rize Kamishiro
  • Shuu Tsukiyama
  • Koutarou Amon
  • Renji Yomo
  • Jason

Ghouls are terrifying creatures which feed on human flesh. When Kaneki is almost killed in an attack, he transforms into a half-ghoul, half-human hybrid and is forced to adapt to their lifestyle in order to survive. He encounters various adventures and new personality changes which change his perspective on his new lifestyle.

When it comes to being a really big anime, Tokyo Ghoul is among the top. I don’t know if it was the marketing or the story itself but this anime is actually huge. For me, personally, this first season had some really mixed feelings. In the first few episodes we see Kaneki turning into a ghoul and him having to face the initial problems with eating and accepting himself. Cool introduction and everything. Really shows how dark the anime is going to be throughout. But, they really display Kaneki as an “always crying” kind of character which I really don’t appreciate. I guess they do make up for that for after he turns ‘bad ass’. Introduction of his friends Hide, Touka and other people at the coffee shop are cool. The Tsukishima and Kaneki episodes were really cool too. We get a slight look at Kaneki’s power as well. The last few episodes were really awesome. When he got his really cool mask and his fight with the detective. But the real highlight of this season was the final 2 episode with the fight against Jason. That fight was so good! The torture, the meeting with Rize, the change in hair color, the music in the background were all just so damn awesome. Sends chills down my spine. The opening is one of the bests I’ve heard. The anime really started off decent but ended really strong. I would highly recommend to watch this anime to all anime fans. Overall awesome!

I would give this season of the anime 3.5/5 stars.
