6 Years of blogging!

Hey guys, how’s it going? Rahul here coming in with a brand new blog. I hope everyone is having a great, safe, and healthy week. I apologise for no post last week as I had my midterm examination going on. Today we have a special post as we celebrate our 6 year anniversary on WordPress! So, like always I plan to give some updates on my life and how things stand with my blog right now. So, let’s begin!

Starting off, my name is Rahul Mody, I am 21 years old, and right now I’m finally back in the Philippines although our classes are still online. We have limited face to face classes for our lab classes but I’m still waiting to get my chance to go and participate. I’ve only been here for about 3 weeks now but I’m already having a great time hanging out with my friends, studying together, and meeting new people. My hobbies include blogging, playing basketball, working out, and just hanging out with my friends. Over the past year I’ve been able to learn a lot about myself and have been trying to enjoy my life as much as possible while still going through med school. As I approach the end of my first year in med school I must say that this year was not as bad as people make it seem. Of course, I do know that the coming years will be exponentially tougher and more draining but as for the first year I feel like I was able to find a good study-life balance where I didn’t have to sacrifice too much of my life for just excessive studying. At the same time, I was going through some personal issues that I was able to introspect on which I feel has really allowed me to learn more about myself and my capabilities.

As we’ve completed an entire 6 years of blogging, this year is definitely different from the rest. While I was able to find a good study-life balance I found that even blogging once a week hasn’t really been much of an issue. Usually I take about 30 minutes to an hour to finish a blog and finding that time one time a week is not that much of an issue. Although there were some weeks where I just could not bring myself to write a post either due to exams or sheer laziness/ tiredness, I still didn’t find the blog to be a hinderance to my life in any way. As long as this continues to be so, I don’t see myself not blogging anytime in the near future. Although it takes a lot of motivation to get myself to start writing, once I begin the word just begin to flow out and it allows me to feel as though I’m expressing myself. My blogs truly encapsulate how I feel about the things I watch and they’re very dependent on my mood and feelings during that situation as well. So, using a review blog seems to be more than just about the reviews to me although they’re nothing more than reviews for the rest of the world (haha!).

This year saw a lot of changes in my life in a lot of different aspects. Physically I feel like I’ve grown a lot in the gym although the amount of basketball I’ve been playing has reduced significantly. Mentally and emotionally this was another really tough year balancing my med school life and social life while also going through some personal issues. I was able to strengthen my relationships with some close people but had to cut out some close friends as well. Still, my life motto of “everything happens for a reason” really helps push me forward and I honestly just want to enjoy my life as much as possible. Enjoy my education, enjoy with my friends, my family, at parties, travelling, and a lot more.

As for the blog itself, I don’t see any changes happening in the coming year at least. I tend to spend my breaks more outside and travelling or enjoying with my friends and family. If anything were to change it would probably be the layout of the blog site. But really I’m just still trying to make sure I can continue blogging despite how tough med school will get in the coming years. I genuinely enjoy writing these kinds of posts because I feel like it really helps me engage with my community. The traffic on my blog site has gone down a bit this past year although it is still decently above average. Still, I don’t blog for the views, likes, or money (not like I get paid anyways HAHA). I look forward to another year of blogging. If you like what you read then go ahead and like, comment, and share this blog. Here’s to many, many, many more years of blogging!
